EXTENDED FAMILY SESSION
Planning Guide
I’m so glad you’re here.
Extended family sessions come with a lot of moving parts, and I’ll take care of how it all comes together so it feels organized and easy on your end.
You don’t need to manage much—we’ll walk into it with a plan.
Before we get into the details
Preparing for an extended family session looks a little different than a regular family session.
There are more people, more combinations, and a bit more coordination—but I’ll guide all of that.
We’ll connect ahead of time to go over timing, groupings, and anything you want to make sure we include.
The guides below are here if you want them. You don’t have to go through everything.
What to wear
Choose outfits that feel like you, just slightly pulled together.
The goal is coordination—not matching—using tones that work well together across the whole group.
If you want help, you can always send options my way and I’ll help you refine things.
Location + timing
I’ll help you choose a location that works best for your group—based on size, mobility, and overall feel.
Beaches give us open space and soft light, while parks and trails offer more shade and flexibility.
Most sessions are scheduled around sunset for the best light—typically about 1–2 hours before.
A few things that help
For larger groups (and especially beach sessions), a few small things can make everything smoother:
- Water and light snacks
- Comfortable shoes for moving between groupings
- Light layers if it cools down
- Towels or a change of clothes for beach sessions
Nothing complicated—just things that help everyone stay comfortable.
What to expect after
Your gallery will be fully edited and easy to download, print, and share.
Depending on the lenth of your session, you’ll see a mix of:
- Full group portraits
- Individual families
- Smaller combinations
- In-between moments
Turnaround is usually about 1–2 weeks (3-4 during the holidays).
I’m here if you need me
If anything comes up while you’re getting ready, you can always reach out.
I’ll take care of the structure and the flow—you just show up with your family.
I’m really looking forward to it.
