Timeline

  • 6:15 - 7:30 pm Team & Group Photos
  • (everyone come, no need to sign up)

  Where

  • Location: Cardiff South State Beach, AKA Seaside
  • Parking: Pay lot or street parking to the north - carpooling encouraged

   Prep

    • Uniform: wear your cheer uniform including liner
    • Bring: Your pom poms
    • Hair: please wear down & styled to your preference
    • Makeup: clean & natural, no sparkly or iridescent makeup

Tips on where to meet

  • Go to the southernmost Cardiff State Beach lot by tower 10.  You can see the "Welcome to Solana Beach" sign from the parking lot.
  • "Tower 10 Solana Beach" should get you there if you're searching on Google Maps.
  • If you see tower 15, the Chart House and other restaurants, you're too far north - keep going south.
  • Head towards tower 10. We'll be shooting either on the trail just to the south or on the water just to the south.

What to do when you arrive

  1. I recommend coming a little early so you have plenty of time to park and find us.
  2. Find my assistant (one of my amazingly helpful sons) and let him know you've arrived.  He'll be just past Tower 10 as you're walking south to the beach.
  3. If you've chosen the option to pay by cash or check, hand your payment envelope to my assistant.  Please make sure your cheerleader's name is on the sealed envelope.  Checks may be made payable to Christy Odom.
  4. My assistant will be handing out name cards a few at a time.
  5. Bring your buddy if you'll be doing buddy photos.
  6. After photos, just don't go too far.  We're scheduled to start group photos at 6:15 but may start early if we're ahead of schedule.

Taking your own photos

You're welcome to bring along a camera to capture the day, however PLEASE, when I'm shooting, give me a chance to capture the individuals and groups with eyes on me.

PLEASE put your camera down when I've got mine up, otherwise the girls aren't sure where to look (and of course they want to look at you because they love you!)

Buddy Photos

Have your buddy/sibling/parent with you when you do your individual photos and we'll do the buddy photo right after.  If your buddy isn't available at that time, still do your individual and let me know when your buddy arrives and we'll try to squeeze the buddy photos in then.

You're welcome to choose your own poses for buddy photos.  You get two poses.  I'll be happy to help you with posing as well.

Special instructions for me?

I try to make the experience wonderful for the girls and honor all the special requests.  It's tough remembering everything with all that's going on on picture day though so even if I look like I totally got what you said, no matter the request, please also email any special instructions to me at [email protected] or text me at 760 566 6101.  Thanks so much!

Getting your Prints and Digitals

Prints will be handed out at cheer practice within a few weeks of picture day.  The links to your galleries will be delivered via email about the same time.  Each girl will receive their own gallery with their individual and group photos.  You are welcome to share your gallery links with others.

 

FAQ

Do I need to sign up if I'm not ordering a package? No need to sign up, just arrive in plenty of time for the group photos.  If we're ahead of schedule, we'll start the group photos early!

Can I see the photos before deciding on a package?  No, but if you'd like to choose the digitals only option (see details here) and then you may decide if you want to print your photo(s) on your own after you see them.

Are there other payment options?  To pay by check or cash, use coupon code PAYBYCHECK or PAYBYCASH when checking out.  Please bring a sealed envelope on picture day with cheerleader's name written on the outside and your payment inside.  If you'd like to pay on picture day AND use the Digitals only option, use the coupon code PAYBYCHECK or PAYBYCASH and then write "Digitals Only" in the notes to me when you sign up.

When do I receive my prints?  Prints included in the packages will be distributed at cheer practice within a few weeks.

What about retouching?  All photos will be edited to include minor skin touch ups. It's usually breezy at the beach - hair spray can help minimize flyaways.

Can I purchase prints of other sizes?  Additional prints and other products can be purchased through the online photo gallery or you may download the photos and print them at a print lab of your choice.  We can substitute 5" x 7"'s instead of 8" x 10"s, just let us know in the comments when you sign up that you'd like the smaller size prints and which poses you'd like them for.

If we can't stay for the group photos, can you photoshop me in?  If your individual photo has similar lighting, I can send it out for advanced retouch services to add you head in on the back row for an extra $40 per photo.
